About Hilary Reese & The Dyslexia Life

I've sat at the IEP table as a parent. Now I sit there for yours.

When my daughter was three years old, I knew something was different. By the time we got answers, we had already lost years of early intervention — years I can never give back.

I'm Hilary Reese — Coast Guard spouse, military mom, special education advocate, and founder of The Dyslexia Life. My own child has severe dyslexia and other learning disabilities. She is now a thriving college student at Auburn University. Getting her there took years of fighting for the right evaluations, the right IEP, and the right interventions — in a system that was not designed to make it easy.

That experience changed the entire direction of my life. And it is why I built this.  Moving to Georgia on orders changed my life and like any military spouse I got to fighting,

If you are a parent who feels confused, dismissed, or exhausted by the special education process — you are exactly who I built The Dyslexia Life for.

Why hired a Special Education Advocate?

The nature of Special Education is a complex web of federal and state laws heavily based on case law in state and federal courts. A good special education advocate can be the conduit between a parent who has little knowledge of education and law and the bureaucracy of a school system.

The IEP table can be intimidating, but it doesn't have to be. With the help of an advocate, you can remove the fear and anxiety from the special education process and focus on what really matters: your child. An advocate will help ensure that your voice is heard, even when your emotions kick in, and will remain focused on getting your child the appropriate education they deserve.

Our Services Include:

Dyslexia Advocacy for students with reading challenges

  • IEP Advocacy during IEP Meetings to ensure appropriate goals, services, and accommodations

  • 504 Advocacy for students who need protections and supports through a 504 Plan

  • Special Education Advocate support for parents navigating complex school systems

  • Reading Support and Reading Intervention guidance aligned with evidence-based instruction

  • Help choosing the right private schools, colleges, and learning environments for students with Dyslexia, ADHD, and learning disabilities

In Georgia, we offer both in-person and virtual advocacy services statewide. Families outside Georgia receive comprehensive virtual support, making expert advocacy accessible no matter where you live.

The Dyslexia Life serves students all around the world, both in public schools and DoDEA military schools.

Support That Goes Beyond the Classroom

Dyslexia affects more than reading. It impacts confidence, emotional well-being, and future opportunities. Our role as a Dyslexia Advocate is to protect not just services and accommodations, but your child’s long-term success.
